Ms. Manjula Mathews
Non-Executive Director of Janashakthi Insurance PLC
Ms Manjula Mathews has over two decades of experience in finance, marketing and general management, both in Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. She served as the Managing Director of the listed entity Dunamis Capital PLC and its subsidiaries First Capital Holdings PLC and Kelsey Developments PLC for many years and recently relinquished her role as the group’s Chairperson in 2017. She is a non-executive director of Janashakthi Insurance PLC. Ms. Mathews is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Cambridge, UK. She joined the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in 2015.
Mr. Chanaka De Silva
Attorney-at-Law & Partner, Nithya Partners
Mr. Chanaka de Silva Attorney-at-Law & Partner, Nithya Partners began his legal career as a State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Department in 1987 after having being admitted to the Bar in 1986. He resigned from this position in late 1996 to form Nithya Partners. Chanaka specializes in Banking, Commercial Law and Litigation and well known for his expertise in Project Finance transactions and negotiations. His forte being in the fields of alternate dispute resolution and litigation, Chanaka has handled several high profile international and local arbitrations representing both local and international corporations and multinationals. He is also an expert in legal due diligence projects. Some of his roles include: Advisor to the Government of Sri Lanka on Infrastructure Development relates issues; Senior Legal Consultant to the Secretariat for Infrastructure Development & Investment; Legal Advisor to the Public Enterprise Reform Commission of Sri Lanka; members of several high profile Committees related to Public Enterprise restructuring; member of the Advisory Commission on Intellectual Property in Sri Lanka. Chanaka has also been ranked as a leading individual in Dispute Resolution and Banking by Chambers & Partners.
Pastor Neroshan Perera
Executive Pastor for the Peoples’ Church – Assembly of God (PCAG)
Pastor Neroshan Perera serves as a Pastor for the People’s Church – Assembly of God (PCAG) both as an Executive Pastor and as the National Convener, Head of Department of Foreign Missions of the PCAG. He has been a Mission Pastor and a Regional Pastor involved in missions, relief and development and youth engagement. He currently serves as a board member of People’s Church Assembly of God, Global Impact, Prison Fellowship and the Council of the Colombo Theological Seminary. He joined the Board of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in 2016.
Ms. Minette Perera
Ms. Minette Perera is a Finance professional, and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of UK. She started her career as a Trainee at Ernst & Young in 1976 and having worked at Nestles and Reckitt Benckiser was the Group Finance Director of the MJF Group (marketers of the world renowned Dilmah Brand) at the time of her retirement in 2013. She was a trustee of the MJF Charitable Foundation from its inception in 2002 till December 2013. She is currently a Non-Executive Director of a number of Companies including Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC (formerly Ceylon Tea Services PLC), Kahawatte Plantations PLC, Forbes & Walker (pvt) Ltd., Talawakelle Tea Estates PLC, First Capital Holdings PLC and Orient Finance PLC.
Ms. Amila de Mel
Ms. Amila de Mel is a Chartered Architect with a multi-disciplinary design practice ADM Architects Pvt Ltd. Her special interest centers on low cost and sustainable architecture. She has had the privilege of working in the studio of veteran architects such as Mr. Geoffrey Bawa and Mr. C. Anjalendran. Together with two other partners, she has founded a company Solve Alternative Housing Pvt Ltd researching and endeavoring to construct with sustainable and alternative, cost effective technologies. She has served Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka since 2006, and was appointed as Vice President of the Board of Directors in 2014.
Mr. Christopher M. Anthonisz
Consultant – Finance
Mr. Michael Anthonisz is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, and he previously worked as Vice President and Head of Group Internal Audit at John Keels Holdings. He is an expert in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), having introduced the subject to group companies through numerous workshops conducted on Risk Management. Presently he functions as a Partner at K A L Rupasinghe & Co. – Chartered Accountants. He is a renowned artist and he is also a key figure in Sri Lanka’s swimming arena. He joined the Board of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in 2014 and currently serves as the Treasurer.
Mr. Rajith Stephan Fernando
Manager – Media and Communications, Sri Lankan Cricket Board
Mr. Rajith Fernando currently serves as the General Manager of Marketing at Citrus Events. He formerly served as the Manager of Media and Communications at the Sri Lanka Cricket Board from 2012 -2016. Prior to joining SLCC he served as the Head of Marketing for Daily Mirror newspapers and as a Business Development Consultant for Wijeya Newspapers. He joined the Board of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in 2014.
Professor Priyan Dias
Senior Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Moratuwa
Professor Priyan Dias holds a doctorate from Imperial College, London and is a Senior Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Moratuwa. He has been Head of Department from 2007 to 2010; and has served as the University of Moratuwa’s Director of Research from 2014 to 2017. He was a staff worker for the Fellowship of Christian University Students soon after his graduation; and later chaired its administrative council. An Associate Editor of the International Journal of Civil Engineering and Environmental Systems, he has held Commonwealth and Fulbright Research Fellowships at the Universities of Bristol (1992/1992) and Carnegie Mellon (2000/2001). He joined the Board of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in 2014.
Dr. Ravi Fernando
Chairman/CEO, Global Strategic Corporate Sustainability (Pvt) Ltd
Dr. Ravi Fernando is an Executive in Residence at the INSEAD Social Innovation center and is a visiting faculty member of the INSEAD International Directors program & the INSEAD Advanced Management Program since 2005. He is the author of ‘Strategic Corporate Sustainability – 7 Imperatives for Sustainable Business’ (Partridge 2015). He is an alumni of the University of Cambridge having completed a Master of Studies in Sustainability Leadership in 2014 and holds a Doctor of Business Administration Degree from the European University, Switzerland 2016. His career with multi-national corporations & local businesses spans over 27 years covering global exposure in MNC’s in Africa, Middle East and Asia. He serves on the Boards of LOLC Holdings Ltd., Ceylon Asset Management & Aitken Spence Plantations Ltd. He joined the Board of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in 2016.
Mr. Shanek Fernando
Programme Officer – Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation at United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Sri Lanka.
Mr. Shanek Fernando has over 10 years of experience in designing, implementing, monitoring & evaluating multi-sectoral project portfolios worth over USD 35 million, implemented/funded by over 20 multi-lateral donors and international/local development agencies, more specifically by the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU). He holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Degree in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, UK and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Computer Science from Norwich University, USA. His work has covered over 12 districts in Sri Lanka especially, in the post-Tsunami and post-war contexts and has supported over 500 relief and development interventions. He joined the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in 2016.
Mr. Marco Montemayor is the Associate Director of Regional Programs for Habitat for Humanity International, Asia-Pacific. As Associate Director, he is responsible for providing strategic guidance to several countries in the Asia Pacific region. He has more than 10 years of experience starting and growing businesses. He also has eight years of experience in microfinance, housing and mobile technology in North and Latin America and South East Asia. He holds an Executive MBA focused on entrepreneurship from the Asian Institute of Management.
